Ruwaished: The Ministry of Water and Irrigation/Water Authority of Jordan (WAJ), in collaboration with relevant authorities, has seized an illegal drilling rig in the Ruwaished district of the Zarqa governorate. The rig was apprehended during a security operation while it was being used to drill an unauthorized well.
According to Jordan News Agency, this crackdown is a part of WAJ's ongoing inspection campaigns aimed at enhancing control over water sources throughout the Kingdom. These campaigns are conducted in cooperation with competent authorities to ensure strict enforcement of water regulations.
In a statement released on Sunday, the ministry revealed that its teams also discovered and seized a second illegal drilling rig in the Azraq Basin area of Mafraq. This rig was hidden behind a poultry farm, and the unauthorized well it was used to drill has since been backfilled.
Following the confiscation of the two rigs, WAJ has filed official seizure records for both incidents. The investigations are ongoing, and legal measures against the violators are pending.
