Amman: Lower House Speaker Mazen Qadi on Wednesday expressed the chamber's unwavering support for the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) and security agencies in addressing threats to the Kingdom. He condemned the recent Iranian missile attack and rejected any justification for targeting Jordanian territory or airspace.
According to Jordan News Agency, Qadi emphasized that the security of the Kingdom and the Arab Gulf states is interconnected and indivisible. He warned that an attack on any Arab country poses a threat to the collective security and stability of the Arab region. He reiterated the Kingdom's solidarity with Gulf states and denounced attempts to compromise their security or sovereignty, stating that attacks on the Kingdom and Gulf countries directly threaten Arab national security and regional stability.
Qadi described the Iranian missile attack as unacceptable, underscoring that any targeting of Jordanian territory or airspace constitutes an attack on the country. He firmly rejected Tehran's attempts to justify the strikes under any circumstances.
He confirmed the Lower House's unified support for His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, in safeguarding the Kingdom's airspace and ensuring Jordan does not become a battleground for regional conflicts. The security of the Kingdom and its citizens is paramount, Qadi stated, advocating for dialogue and political solutions as the means to prevent further regional escalation.
Qadi commended the readiness and capabilities of the JAF, highlighting their consistent ability to protect the Kingdom's territory, airspace, and population. He praised military personnel for their dedication in responding to threats and ensuring citizen safety.
He declared that the Kingdom would neither permit its territory or airspace to be used as a battleground nor allow its sovereignty and citizen security to be compromised by regional dynamics. The Kingdom's sovereignty and national security are a "red line," he asserted, stressing the importance of national unity and a strong domestic front in tackling these challenges.
Qadi cautioned that continued attacks on the Kingdom and Gulf states could escalate the conflict and endanger the security and vital interests of Arab nations and their people.
