Amman: Prime Minister Jafar Hassan said on Wednesday that Jordan "holds promising economic opportunities that outweigh challenges," noting that major strategic projects will drive further local and foreign investment. Chairing an Investment Council meeting, Hassan stated that development, industrial, and free zones are "vital drivers" of job growth and economic development across the Kingdom's governorates.
According to Jordan News Agency, Hassan highlighted several mega projects that are expected to bolster the country's positive economic indicators, such as the Aqaba Port Railway, the Ma'an-Aqaba dry port, the National Water Carrier, and the Risha gas field development. To maximize the potential of these ventures, Hassan announced a new government policy mandating that all public investment projects include at least 30 percent local partnership.
Looking ahead, Hassan emphasized preparations for the upcoming Jordan-EU Investment Conference at the Dead Sea in November. He also noted efforts to capitalize on His Majesty King Abdullah II's recent visit to China, aiming to expand foreign trade partnerships.
Minister of Investment Tariq Abu Ghazaleh provided insights into ongoing initiatives under the Economic Modernization Vision, including recent regulatory updates designed to streamline business licensing, accelerate approvals, and support digital transformation. He also revealed that the ministry is in the process of drafting the 2026 Investment Funds Law to establish a unified framework for attracting regional and international capital.
