Amman: The Public Security Directorate (PSD) has renewed its warning to citizens against responding to fraudulent text messages sent to their phones that falsely claim to be issued by official authorities and urge recipients to promptly pay their traffic fines. The Directorate said the scam messages ask recipients to click on fraudulent links included in the messages, claiming that doing so will prevent the fines from being doubled or additional penalties from being imposed.
According to Jordan News Agency, the PSD urged citizens not to interact with such messages under any circumstances and to treat them as fraudulent. It advised deleting the messages from their phones as the best way to avoid falling victim to electronic fraud, while relying only on recognized official websites to complete such transactions.
