Aqaba: Jordan River Foundation (JRF) concluded its 2026 summer camp activities, which were carried out by the Queen Rania Al Abdullah Center for Community Empowerment in Aqaba. The camp engaged 350 children and teenagers aged 6 to 17, along with volunteers and program organizers.
According to Jordan News Agency, Khaled Alawi, Director of Institutional Development at the Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC), highlighted the ADC's role in developing the Aqaba region through developmental and investment initiatives. He emphasized that this effort is part of ADC's vision to achieve true development that reflects the positive and sustainable impact of economic and investment projects on people's lives and society.
The camp was launched as part of the Safe Spaces for Protection Project in partnership with JRF. Alawi noted that this initiative aligns with the ADC's commitment to fostering effective institutional partnerships with national and civil society organizations. The aim is to direct corporate social responsibility programs to make impactful and sustainable contributions that address community needs directly.
During the project's execution, the camp provided a model for integration among Jordan's institutions to serve the community by offering a safe and supportive environment for children and adolescents. This environment allows opportunities for learning, innovation, and positive interaction, enhancing the participants' life skills and helping them discover and develop their talents.
Alawi remarked that investing in children and adolescents is a long-term investment in the future of Aqaba and its community. He stated that providing safe and stimulating spaces prepares these groups to be more capable of learning, interacting, engaging, and taking responsibility, thereby strengthening their ability to face challenges positively.
