JUST Hosts 10th International Medical Conference on Clinical Excellence and Innovation

Irbid: Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) President Khaled Al-Salem emphasized on Wednesday the transformative impact of rapid medical advancements, particularly in artificial intelligence, on the future of medicine, diagnostic and treatment mechanisms, education, and scientific research.

According to Jordan News Agency, in his opening remarks at the 10th International Conference organized by the JUST Faculty of Medicine, Al-Salem highlighted the importance of employing technologies "responsibly and ethically." Such responsible use can enhance the role of physicians, elevate healthcare quality, and preserve its human essence.

The two-day conference, themed "Towards Clinical Excellence and Innovation in Healthcare," has attracted physicians, researchers, and academics from various healthcare fields in Jordan and abroad. These transformations are in line with the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, which emphasize investing in human capital, developing education, empowering innovation, and leveraging technology to bolster a knowledge economy and Jordan's competitiveness, Al-Salem noted.

He further stated that developing medical education and integrating artificial intelligence into teaching, practice, and scientific research is now a national imperative to strengthen Jordan's standing in education, health, and scientific research fields. JUST's acquisition of the (ACGME-I) international accreditation for postgraduate medical education (GME) Sponsoring Institutions and residency programs reflects its advanced status in medical training, quality of education, and patient safety.

The opening session was attended by notable figures such as Royal Medical Services Director General Brigadier General Dr. Sahel Al-Hammouri, Jordanian Medical Association President Dr. Issa Khashashneh, and numerous leaders from the Jordanian health sector, including directors of public and private hospitals, deans of faculties, and medical students from the university.

Dr. Firas Qarqar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, remarked that the conference serves as a gathering of distinguished physicians, researchers, and specialists to exchange experiences and discuss the latest medical developments. The event offers a specialized scientific platform for dialogue and the review of modern experiences and practices across various medical specialties.

The conference's focus on clinical excellence and innovation in healthcare includes discussions on artificial intelligence, digital health, precision medicine, and modern medical technologies. It also features workshops, simulations, and interactive clinical training, covering specialized medical topics such as internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, cardiology, oncology, infectious diseases, neurology, and medical education.

Additionally, the conference includes sessions on AI, modern technologies and treatments, acute care, mental health, advanced surgeries, women's health, and primary healthcare.
