ISTD Encourages Taxpayers to Register and Update Email Addresses

Amman: The Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD) sent text messages to taxpayers on Wednesday, urging them to register or update their email addresses through the department's online portal.

According to Jordan News Agency, the department explained that the initiative aims to enhance communication channels with taxpayers, as it has been noted that some individuals and businesses currently lack verified or updated email addresses in the official system. By registering an email address, taxpayers can receive official notifications, statements, guidelines, and updates, which will serve as an additional channel alongside mobile SMS.

The department emphasized that this measure ensures continuous communication, particularly for taxpayers located outside the Kingdom where mobile text messages may not always be delivered. However, it was clarified that receiving notifications via email remains optional and is based on the taxpayer's preference, offering a convenient way to track transactions and services.

Taxpayers who have not yet registered an email or wish to update their contact information are encouraged to do so via the department's online services. Users are advised to navigate to personal data, select basic information, and add or update their email address at the bottom left of the page to benefit from improved, faster, and more efficient electronic services.
