Amman: Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply, Dana Zoubi, confirmed advancements in the execution of projects under Jordan's Industrial Policy for 2024-2028. During the 7th periodic meeting of the National Team for Implementing the Industrial Policy 2024-2028, Zoubi emphasized the importance of increasing efforts from technical working groups to ensure the timely completion of the plan and projects.
According to Jordan News Agency, the ministry statement released on Wednesday highlighted the progress in implementing the National Energy Efficiency Program for Jordan's industrial facilities. The meeting reviewed the distribution of a questionnaire to the most energy-intensive facilities to evaluate the impact of electricity and fuel costs and conduct workshops to promote energy conservation. Additionally, discussions addressed the supply of natural gas to industrial zones, with tenders for Al-Rawda Industrial Zone and Al Muwaqar Industrial Estate awarded, and environmental approvals granted for the Mafraq Development City.
The meeting also examined a study on transportation services in Al-Qastal Industrial Estate, aiming to improve transportation in Irbid by expanding contracted transportation, increasing permits, and providing a shuttle commuting service. In terms of environmental initiatives, guidelines for the "Jordanian Environmental Label" were announced, along with its visual identity and registration, coinciding with preparations for the second cycle of the Green Factory Award.
In the skills and added value sector, proposals for expanding vocational training, production branches, and automating licensing for small and medium-sized enterprises were presented. Other discussions focused on attracting investments in the textile sector, developing strategies for the chemical, food, and engineering industries, launching an applied research program, and developing a food safety system in accordance with EU standards. The feasibility of semiconductor manufacturing was also assessed.
The event concluded with a review of investment promotion efforts, the implementation of the "Made in Jordan" program, memoranda of understanding related to green hydrogen and ammonia, and strategies for developing mining opportunities and enhancing companies' readiness to participate in international exhibitions.
