Amman: Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi and Morocco's Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Living Abroad, Nasser Bourita, engaged in discussions on Tuesday to fortify their bilateral ties and broaden cooperation.
According to Jordan News Agency, the two ministers, during a telephone conversation, emphasized their commitment to enhancing collaboration across all sectors and maintaining close coordination on regional and international matters of mutual concern. They scrutinized regional developments, particularly the escalating situation in the occupied West Bank, and called for collective efforts to deescalate tensions.
The ministers condemned the unlawful Israeli actions in the occupied West Bank, which they believe threaten the viability of a two-state solution, as well as Israeli violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. They stressed the importance of preserving the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its holy sites, firmly opposing any actions aimed at altering it.
Safadi and Bourita reiterated that the Al-Aqsa Mosque is a place of worship solely for Muslims and affirmed that the Jerusalem Awqaf and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department, associated with Jordan's Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, is the only legal authority responsible for managing the mosque's affairs and regulating entry.
The ministers also discussed ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Israel. They expressed their support for these efforts and advocated for a comprehensive agreement that guarantees free navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, addresses the root causes of regional tensions, and contributes to enduring security and stability.
