Amman: Minister of Social Development Wafa Bani Mustafa welcomed an official Indonesian delegation to explore Jordan's initiatives in alternative care, disability inclusion, social and economic empowerment, and support for independent living services for persons with disabilities. The meeting was organized by the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities alongside the delegation's participation in the Arab Regional Conference, a follow-up to the 2025 Global Disability Summit (GDS) in Amman.
According to Jordan News Agency, Bani Mustafa emphasized the significance of the visit in exchanging expertise and showcasing the ministry's best practices in disability care and empowerment. She noted Jordan's progress in adopting a rights-based approach through an integrated service system focused on empowerment and inclusion, moving away from traditional care models.
Under the guidance of His Majesty King Abdullah II, Jordan has implemented legislation, policies, and strategies prioritizing disability services within its development agenda. Bani Mustafa highlighted the ministry's collaboration with the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities to develop alternative care arrangements and inclusive support services that promote independent living and community integration, transitioning from institutional care to autonomy-centered services.
The ministry is committed to expanding inclusive services, establishing early-intervention units, and comprehensive day-care centers across the Kingdom. These services are offered free of charge, ensuring accessibility for persons with disabilities and their families, particularly in high-demand areas.
During the visit, ministry officials presented their disability-targeted programs and engaged in discussions with the Indonesian delegation on collaborative plans and strategies. The Indonesian delegation praised Jordan's efforts, recognizing it as a distinguished model aligned with international best practices and standards.
