Amman: Jordan's Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ministry condemned statements by the Houthi military spokesperson, which falsely accuse Saudi Arabia of launching a siege against Yemen and threatening freedom of navigation.
According to Jordan News Agency, the ministry spokesperson Fuad Majali stated that Jordan "strongly" rejects and denounces the statements, affirming the Kingdom's "full" solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures taken by Riyadh to protect its sovereignty, security, and the safety of its citizens and residents.
Majali also urged the international community to fulfill its responsibilities in securing implementation of relevant U.N. Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216 on Yemen and Resolution 2722 on navigation rights in the Red Sea.
Additionally, he affirmed freedom of navigation in international waterways is a right guaranteed under international law and the 1982 U.N. Convention on the Law of the Sea.
