Investment Ministry and Vocational Training Corporation Forge Partnership to Meet Workforce Needs

Amman: The Ministry of Investment and the Vocational Training Corporation (VTC) signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a partnership aimed at linking the workforce requirements of investment projects with training and employment programs. This initiative is intended to develop Jordanian talent, expand job opportunities, and support the growth and sustainability of investments.

According to Jordan News Agency, the memorandum was signed at the Ministry of Investment by Minister of Labour Nidal Katamine and Minister of Investment Tareq Abu Ghazaleh, with the presence of VTC Director-General Raafat Al Sawafin and Investment Ministry Secretary-General Zaher Al Qatarneh. Katamine stated that the agreement represents an initiative to empower Jordanian youth by equipping them with skills required by investment projects and enhancing their readiness for employment opportunities created by new investments.

Katamine highlighted that the memorandum aims to ensure the availability of professional specializations and skilled workers required by investors. He noted that the draft Vocational and Craft Training Law is nearing its final legislative stages, which would bolster investor confidence in the availability of qualified Jordanian workers capable of meeting project needs.

Abu Ghazaleh emphasized the importance of linking investment with training and employment as a national priority. This agreement is seen as a practical step toward providing the qualified workforce needed by investment projects, facilitating operations, growth, and job creation for Jordanians. He underscored that the availability of trained national workers significantly influences investment decisions.

He further stated that investing in the skills of Jordanians directly enhances the competitiveness of the national economy and its ability to attract sustainable investments. The memorandum aims to align training programs with economic sector needs and employment opportunities generated by investment projects, supporting sustainable development across the kingdom's governorates.

Al Sawafin remarked that the agreement reflects increased coordination among national institutions, strengthening the investment environment by supplying a qualified workforce for investment projects. The corporation plans to align its training programs with investor and labor market needs, updating vocational training to meet technical and professional skill demands and increasing employment opportunities for Jordanians.

Under the agreement, a VTC representative will be stationed at the Comprehensive Investment Service Centre at the Ministry of Investment. This representative will serve as a direct contact for investors, identifying workforce and training requirements and coordinating with the corporation's training institutes and relevant authorities.

The areas of cooperation include assessing investment projects' workforce, specialization, and skills requirements; developing specialized training programs; exchanging relevant information in accordance with legislation; and organizing joint meetings and workshops to support training and employment. The memorandum aims to serve as a model for institutional cooperation, linking investment, vocational training, and employment while enhancing the readiness of Jordanian workers for the labor market and strengthening the economy's capacity for sustainable employment generation.
