Amman: The Ministry of Justice on Monday engaged with a Saudi judicial delegation to explore ways to enhance judicial and legal cooperation, with a particular focus on digital transformation and the role of technical offices within courts.
According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting saw Ministry of Justice Secretary-General for Judicial Affairs Walid Kanakrieh welcoming the delegation led by Saudi Deputy Minister of Justice for Judicial Affairs Salman Al-Fawzan. Kanakrieh underscored the deep-rooted relations between Jordan and Saudi Arabia and emphasized their mutual commitment to advancing cooperation in the judicial and legal arenas. The discussions aimed at developing their justice systems and exchanging institutional expertise.
Kanakrieh provided an overview of Jordan's judicial framework, detailing the various types and jurisdictions of courts, as well as the ministry's supportive role in the judiciary through logistical, technical, administrative, and legislative services. He also highlighted Jordan's initiatives in implementing alternatives to custodial sentences, which contribute to rehabilitation and help alleviate overcrowding in correctional and rehabilitation centers.
Justice Ministry Secretary-General for Administrative and Financial Affairs Khuloud Abadi shared insights into the ministry's digital transformation initiatives. These include the expansion of electronic services, the adoption of digital signatures, and the increased use of remote litigation, all of which align with public-sector modernization plans.
