Amman: The Jordan Cooperative Corporation (JCC) has launched an eight-day training-of-trainers program in collaboration with the International Labor Organization (ILO) titled "Think.COOP and Start.COOP." This initiative gathers representatives from various ministries, government institutions, and organizations committed to supporting cooperative development.
According to Jordan News Agency, Abdel Fattah Shalabi, the Director General of the JCC, emphasized the significance of cooperatives as a social and solidarity economic model that enhances economic growth, quality of life, and community engagement in sustainable development. He noted that the Hashemite leadership's vision, guided by His Majesty King Abdullah II, aims to support cooperatives in remote areas, facilitating the creation of jobs and improvement of livelihoods through productive projects.
Shalabi also stressed the value of the JCC's collaboration with the ILO, which has been instrumental in advancing the cooperative sector through various initiatives, including the National Strategy for the Jordanian Cooperative Movement and tailored international training programs. The current program is designed to impart training and knowledge-transfer skills to employees supporting cooperatives, ensuring continued development contributions and enhanced service delivery.
Samer Rawashdeh, an ILO representative, highlighted the eight-year partnership between JCC and ILO, which includes joint efforts on the National Strategy for the Jordanian Cooperative Movement for 2021-2025. The strategy focuses on cooperative legislation, technical training to boost institutional capacity, and establishing bodies for financing and training. Rawashdeh remarked that the program's broad participation from government and civil society organizations would help elevate cooperative awareness and underscore their economic and social significance, aligning with ILO Recommendation No. 193.
