Amman: Minister of Transport and Minister of Labor Nidal Katamine met with Anton Crombez, the newly appointed chairman of Airport International Group (AIG), and Nicolas Deviller, the group's chief executive, to discuss operational status and future expansion plans for Queen Alia International Airport.
According to Jordan News Agency, Katamine highlighted the airport's essential role as Jordan's primary gateway and reiterated the government's commitment to infrastructure development and upgrading passenger services to meet international standards.
During the meeting, the minister reviewed the ongoing comprehensive expansion projects, which include 15 development initiatives in addition to a major rehabilitation project for the southern runway. These projects are designed to enhance operational efficiency, improve the passenger experience, and increase the airport's capacity to accommodate the rising demand for air travel amid current regional developments.
Katamine also received a briefing on measures being implemented to ensure smooth passenger flows while maintaining strict safety, security, and operational standards. These efforts aim to strengthen the airport's standing as a regional aviation hub.
The AIG leadership presented ongoing projects and future strategies, emphasizing their commitment to collaborate with the Ministry of Transport and other authorities to deliver high-quality services and reinforce Jordan's position in the global aviation sector.
