Amman: Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti on Tuesday met Somali Defense Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi and an accompanying delegation at the General Command headquarters. The discussions centered on regional and international developments, security challenges, and the potential for expanding defense cooperation between Jordan and Somalia.
According to Jordan News Agency, both parties emphasized the necessity of continued coordination across military fields to bolster capabilities and promote security and stability in the region. During the meeting, Huneiti and the Somali minister also received briefings on recent developments within the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF), which included updates on defense and training capabilities, joint exercises, training programs, and professional development initiatives. These efforts are aimed at enhancing operational readiness and facilitating the exchange of expertise.
Maj. Gen. Huneiti highlighted the strong ties between Jordan and Somalia, noting that military cooperation serves as a crucial element in strengthening defense capabilities and fostering the exchange of expertise, thereby supporting regional security and stability. Somali Defense Minister Fiqi expressed appreciation for Jordan's role under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II and lauded the professionalism and advanced capabilities of the JAF. He reiterated Somalia's commitment to broadening cooperation with Jordan in various fields.
