Jerash Festival Debuts Open-Air Art Walk

Jerash: The 40th Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts will introduce the Art Walk for the first time, transforming the ancient city's Cardo (Colonnaded Street) into an open-air gallery showcasing Jordanian artists, according to organizers on Sunday.

According to Jordan News Agency, the initiative seeks to expand artistic activities throughout the archaeological site, creating more opportunities for direct interaction between visitors and local artists. The festival planners emphasized the importance of integrating visual art into the daily experience of festival-goers, allowing them to engage with art in a historic setting.

Rather than limiting performances and exhibitions to the festival's main venues, the Art Walk will bring visual art into the heart of the ancient city, making it an integral part of the visitor experience. This new initiative aims to enhance the cultural richness of the festival by utilizing the unique backdrop of Jerash's historic landmarks.

The festival said the new space will provide Jordanian artists with a platform to engage with audiences in one of Jerash's most visited landmarks while showcasing the diversity of the Kingdom's cultural scene. By turning the Cardo into an open-air gallery, the festival hopes to attract a wider audience and offer a fresh perspective on Jordan's artistic heritage.
