Jordan and Japan Aim to Boost Trade and Investment Relations

Amman: Jordan and Japan are poised to enhance their economic partnership, focusing on increasing trade and investment, as highlighted by statements from Asari Hideki, the Japanese Ambassador to Jordan. On Sunday, at the Jordan Economic Forum (JEF), the ambassador emphasized Japan's commitment to fortifying economic ties with Jordan, describing the nation as a pivotal "anchor of stability" and a crucial regional hub.

According to Jordan News Agency, Hideki remarked on Jordan's political stability, skilled workforce, and strategic geographical position connecting Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, labeling it as an "ideal platform" for Japanese investment. He underscored the potential for Jordan to serve as a logistics and production gateway for the broader region, benefiting from Japan's leadership in technology, high-quality infrastructure, and critical supply chains.

The ambassador highlighted successful joint initiatives, including funding for the Jordan Museum and Petra Museum through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), as well as regional training programs and the NINJA initiative, which offers seed funding and mentorship to Jordanian tech startups.

Kheir Abu Saalik, Chairman of the Jordan Economic Forum, praised Japan's long-term support for Jordan's development. He emphasized that expanding economic cooperation would further strengthen the ties between the two countries.

The forum concluded with delegates agreeing to leverage strong diplomatic relations to enhance bilateral trade, investment, and technology transfer amidst the shifting dynamics of the global economy.
