Damascus: Interior Minister Mazen Faraya arrived in Damascus on Wednesday, marking the first official visit by an Arab interior minister to Syria since the fall of the former regime. Faraya's visit is seen as a pivotal step in rekindling diplomatic relations and enhancing cooperation between Jordan and Syria.
According to Jordan News Agency, Faraya is set to engage in comprehensive discussions with Syrian Interior Minister Anas Khattab and other senior officials. The agenda includes collaborative efforts on joint training initiatives, development at border crossings, and strategies to combat drug smuggling, highlighting the significance of cross-border security cooperation.
Upon his arrival at Tishreen Palace, Faraya was welcomed by Khattab and several high-ranking Syrian officials. During his visit, Faraya underscored the importance of strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in the realm of security cooperation. He expressed Jordan's unequivocal support for Syria, condemning recent terrorist bombings in Damascus and affirming solidarity with the Syrian people in their fight against violence and intimidation.
