Water Violations Uncovered and Stopped in Al-Qastal and Na’ur

Amman: The Ministry of Water and Irrigation, in coordination with relevant security authorities, has uncovered and dismantled illegal water extraction activities in the Al-Qastal and Na’ur areas, located south of Amman. The perpetrators were found to have drilled unauthorized wells and tampered with major water mains to illicitly extract and sell water using unlicensed tankers.

According to Jordan News Agency, this crackdown is part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to tighten control over the country’s vital water resources. The ministry acted on a tip-off about several tankers filling up at night and selling water illegally in Na’ur district. This information led to a coordinated security operation with relevant authorities.

During the operation, officials discovered seven significant violations on water pipelines, with diameters of 2 inches and 1 inch, which were being used to fill illegal pools and tankers for unauthorized sale to residents. The illegal fixtures have been removed, and investigations are currently underway to pursue legal action against those responsible.

In a concurrent operation in the Al-Qastal area, coordinated with police forces, authorities seized two unlicensed drilling rigs used to bore unauthorized wells on a farm. The ministry reported that the illegal wells were backfilled, the rigs confiscated, and necessary documentation prepared to initiate legal proceedings against the violators.
