Jerash: Under Royal patronage, the 40th edition of the Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts will officially open on July 22 under the theme "A Legacy That Endures... Generations Meet," with activities beginning on July 23.
According to Jordan News Agency, this year's edition will feature more than 212 artistic, cultural, heritage, and family-oriented events across Jerash, Amman, and several governorates, reflecting four decades of cultural achievement while engaging new generations of artists and audiences.
The programme includes major Arab and international performers, intellectual forums, poetry evenings, theatrical productions, folklore shows, and family entertainment activities. Cultural events will be organised in partnership with the Jordanian Writers Association, the Jordanian Writers and Authors Union, and Darat Al-Shu'ara, with participation from prominent Arab and Jordanian writers, poets, and critics.
The Southern Theater will host headline performances by Magida El Roumi, George Wassouf, Ahmed Saad, Abadi Al-Johar, Elissa, Tamer Hosny, Marwan Khoury, and Abeer Nehme, alongside the renowned Caracalla Dance Theatre and the musical production "Umm Kulthum." The North Theater will present a diverse lineup of Jordanian, Arab, and international musical performances, featuring artists and ensembles including Ibrahim Maalouf, Al-Murabba', Al-Far'i, and the National Music Institute Orchestra.
The festival will feature 31 events at the Artemis Theater, 35 local and international performances at the Hippodrome, a dedicated family and children's programme, 11 Jordanian artistic evenings in Amman, and the fourth Monodrama Festival. This year's edition will honour Jordanian artist Qamar Safadi, Syrian actor Abdel Moneim Amayri, and Lebanese actress Julia Kassar in recognition of their contributions to Arab arts and culture.
Festival organisers announced that tickets for events at the Southern and North theaters are now available through the eTathkara online platform.
