Petra: Al-Hussein Bin Talal University and Italian non-profit organization ELIS have entered into a cooperation agreement to enhance vocational training and expand employment opportunities in the tourism and hospitality sectors. The agreement, signed under the RE-BUILD international program, was hosted by the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) and witnessed by prominent figures such as PDTRA Chairperson Adnan Sawair and Italian Ambassador to Jordan Luciano Pezzotti.
According to Jordan News Agency, several Jordanian and Italian academic and development institutions are involved in the two-year program supported by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS). The initiative aims to develop specialized training programs in tourism, hospitality, and hotel services while facilitating the exchange of expertise between Jordanian and Italian partners.
The agreement aligns with PDTRA's efforts to enhance Petra's position as a regional hub for tourism and hospitality training. Chairperson Sawair emphasized the importance of building strategic partnerships to support sustainable tourism development and expand employment opportunities for young people in the region. He highlighted the significance of investing in human resources and developing young talent as key pillars of economic growth in the Petra region.
The RE-BUILD program exemplifies Jordanian-Italian cooperation in education and vocational training, focusing on capacity building and aligning training outcomes with labor market needs.
