Princess Sumaya, Army Chief Discuss Strategic Cooperation in AI, Drone Technology

Amman: Her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, President of the Royal Scientific Society and Chair of the Board of Trustees of Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT), met with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Hunaiti to discuss enhancing strategic cooperation between the academic and military sectors.

According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting, attended by PSUT President Wejdan Abu El-Haija, took place during an official visit to the university. The focus was on strengthening the strategic partnership between the two sectors, with particular attention to technology, artificial intelligence (AI) applications, and the development of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). This collaboration aims to support the military's modernization efforts and align with global technological advancements.

Princess Sumaya emphasized the importance of investing in technical education and scientific research as fundamental pillars for building a robust knowledge economy. She praised the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF) Arab Army for its dedication to keeping pace with technological progress. Major General Hunaiti highlighted the visit as a reflection of Royal directives to implement structural transformations within the Armed Forces, expanding partnerships with specialized universities and researchers.

PSUT President Wejdan Abu El-Haija presented the university's milestones in academic programs, particularly in computing, engineering, and business technology. She attributed these achievements to the continuous support and guidance of Princess Sumaya. The visit included a field tour of an exhibition showcasing entrepreneurial student projects in AI, cybersecurity, and drone engineering, demonstrating advanced technological applications tailored to local and regional market needs.

The delegation also attended a presentation by Professor Mohammad Al-Nabhan, an international expert in blockchain and cybersecurity. He discussed the role of cybersecurity laboratories in supporting national education and digital defense capabilities, showcasing live scenarios of students countering cyber threats using advanced scientific methodologies.

This visit underscores national efforts to integrate higher education with the Armed Forces, aiming to meet the demands of the digital age and prepare a generation capable of innovation and managing future challenges.
