Amman: Minister of Environment, Dr. Ayman Suleiman, urged Jordan’s environmental associations to coordinate their priorities within a clear and comprehensive action plan for the next five years. He emphasized Jordan’s potential to become a significant hub for regional projects, leveraging its security and stability. The minister shared these insights during an open dialogue organized by the Ministry of Environment at the Yarmouk Forest Reserve.
According to Jordan News Agency, Suleiman revealed plans for a national conference aimed at orchestrating efforts among environmental associations and exchanging valuable experiences. He also advocated for activating a fund to support environmental activities, enabling associations to implement programs that align with national priorities. The minister highlighted the importance of a development-driven mindset, focusing on the sustainability of environmental projects to ensure they have a direct developmental impact and create job opportunities for young people.
Suleiman assured that the ministry is dedicated to strengthening institutional environmental work and establishing effective partnerships with various entities, in accordance with royal directives. He noted that 2026 will be pivotal for enhancing public cleanliness and promoting responsible ecological behavior, as part of a comprehensive national strategy.
The minister acknowledged the role of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II in promoting fieldwork and fostering a culture of environmental conservation. The meeting aimed to activate the associations’ role and strengthen partnerships with the private sector and local communities through direct dialogue, enhancing joint action mechanisms and building relationships based on coordination and integration.
During the discussions, associations’ representatives from the northern governorates highlighted the need for increased financial support for environmental projects, engagement in policy-making, and the formation of federations to organize their work. They also called for the reinstatement of the Environmental Media Award to raise awareness of environmental issues.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the ministry organized a cleanup campaign in the Umm Qais tourist area, emphasizing the significance of volunteer work in supporting ecological efforts.
