Awqaf Ministry and Royal Jordanian Ink Five-Year Transit Agreement for Palestinian Travelers

Amman: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has entered into a significant five-year cooperation agreement with Royal Jordanian Airlines aimed at streamlining the travel process for passengers coming from the West Bank and the 1948 territories. The agreement was formally signed during a ceremony attended by Minister of Awqaf Mohammad Khalaileh and Minister of Transport Nidal Katamine.

According to Jordan News Agency, the agreement involves Royal Jordanian leasing a dedicated facility within the Ghor Nimrin pilgrims' terminal near the King Hussein Bridge. This new logistics hub will provide integrated services designed to facilitate smoother transit and check-in procedures, particularly for travelers from the interior Palestinian territories.

The initiative is geared towards easing passenger movement during the peak Hajj and Umrah seasons. By reducing congestion, the project aims to enhance the overall travel experience for those transiting through Jordan. The agreement was signed by Majdi Al Btoush, Director General of the Department of Hajj and Umrah, and Samer Majali, Vice Chairman and CEO of Royal Jordanian, in the presence of senior officials from both organizations.
