Jordan and Japan Foreign Ministers Discuss Regional Stability and Cooperation

Amman: Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi and Japan's Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi engaged in a comprehensive discussion focusing on regional developments, cooperation, and efforts to maintain stability.

According to Jordan News Agency, the ministers conducted telephone talks where they expressed their approval of the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, emphasizing their support for initiatives aimed at achieving long-lasting de-escalation. The conversation also included the ongoing negotiations between Washington and Tehran, highlighting the importance of reaching an agreement that ensures security, stability, and respects international law and state sovereignty, while addressing the underlying causes of recent tensions.

The discussions extended to the challenging situation in Lebanon, with Safadi urging for an immediate cessation of Israeli aggression and advocating for support towards the Lebanese government to assert its sovereignty throughout its territory. Furthermore, the diplomats reiterated the need to reinforce stability in Gaza and to ensure the implementation of all provisions of the ceasefire agreement.

Safadi and Motegi also touched upon the deteriorating situation in the occupied West Bank. Safadi voiced concerns over illegal Israeli actions undermining the two-state solution, including settlement expansion, land annexation, and restrictions on religious freedoms for both Muslims and Christians. He called for a credible international effort to halt these violations against the Palestinian people in the occupied territories.

In addition to these pressing regional issues, the ministers discussed the robust strategic partnership between Jordan and Japan, exploring practical measures to enhance cooperation across several vital sectors.
