Amman: Under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Ghida Talal, chair of the board of trustees of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center, the 8th International Congress of the Jordanian Association of Psychiatrists and the Conference on Supporting Mental Health in Gaza opened in Amman.
According to Jordan News Agency, the two conferences brought together leading physicians, experts, and specialists from Jordan and abroad and were organized by the Jordanian Association of Psychiatrists. This highlights Jordan’s role in advancing mental health services and strengthening the response to growing needs, particularly amidst current humanitarian challenges.
Conference President Alaa Froukh acknowledged Princess Ghida’s significant role in supporting Jordan’s health sector and her leadership in enhancing quality initiatives to develop comprehensive care services. He emphasized a focus on integrating mental health into the broader care system.
He also highlighted Jordan’s ongoing efforts to support the Palestinian cause and its initiatives, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, to alleviate the humanitarian suffering of Palestinians in Gaza. This includes the King’s ongoing directives to bolster medical and relief response efforts.
The conferences aim to promote scientific exchange, stay abreast of the latest developments in psychiatry, and support regional efforts to develop effective and sustainable mental health policies that benefit communities affected by crises.
