Youth Minister, Australian Envoy Discuss Cooperation in Youth Sector

Amman: Minister of Youth Raed Adwan and Australian Ambassador to Jordan Paula Ganly discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the youth sector.

According to Jordan News Agency, during the meeting held at the Ministry of Youth, Adwan emphasized the strong ties between the two countries and the importance of enhancing collaboration to benefit young people in both nations. He outlined the ministry's focus on activating youth centers and implementing programs that cater to the needs and aspirations of young people. The ministry has conducted the National Youth Survey in preparation for the National Youth Strategy for 2026-2030 and has launched programs in sports, arts, music, digital skills, and leadership development to empower youth and build their capacities.

Adwan also highlighted Jordan's role in advancing UN Security Council Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace, and Security, which was spearheaded by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II. The resolution, presented during a Security Council session chaired by the Crown Prince, was unanimously adopted and is the first in UN history to acknowledge the significant role of youth in peacebuilding and security promotion.

Ganly expressed her desire to enhance cooperation on youth-related issues of mutual interest, supporting greater youth participation and allowing both countries to benefit from shared expertise. This aligns with the National Youth Strategy led by the ministry and Jordan's national priorities for youth empowerment.

The discussions also covered the development of a joint implementation program, the exchange of expertise and international best practices in youth work, and the execution of youth and cultural exchange programs.
