Amman: Smiles filled the pediatric ward at Prince Hamza Hospital on Tuesday as Jordanian sports stars paid a heartfelt visit to children receiving treatment, in a humanitarian initiative organized by the Jordanian Players International Cultural Association during the holy month of Ramadan.
According to Jordan News Agency, the delegation included footballers Ahmad Arsan, Muhannad Khairallah, and Abdullah Fakhoury, alongside national karate team athletes Mohammad Jaafari and Waseem Salameh. They were received by the hospital's director, Jihad Maani, before touring the ward and meeting the young patients.
During the visit, the athletes moved between patients' rooms, speaking with the children, sharing warm moments with them, and taking commemorative photos, bringing visible joy and excitement to the young patients.
The delegation also included members of the association's board of directors, among them Bashar Hawamdeh, head of the social committee Iman Azab, secretary-general Ahmad Qutaishat, and social committee members Mu'ayyad Salim, Diana Dalu, Lubna Karadsheh, Rogina Suleiman, and Othman Hasanat.
Hawamdeh said the visit is part of a broader series of charitable activities the association is organizing during Ramadan, aimed at strengthening values of compassion, solidarity, and social responsibility, particularly during the spiritually significant days of the holy month.
Arsan, a national team and Al-Faisaly Club player, said sports figures have a responsibility that goes beyond the field. "It is important for sports to carry a humanitarian message and to show empathy toward others. I am very happy to participate in this visit and in the initiative organized by the Players' Association to check on sick children during these blessed days," he said.
For his part, Jaafari said the visit gave athletes a meaningful opportunity to contribute to humanitarian work away from competition. "Today we experienced something different with humanitarian goals. Such visits highlight how important charitable work is and how much patients value these moments of support alongside the medical care provided by the dedicated staff at Prince Hamza Hospital," he said.
The association launched its Ramadan activities last Friday by organizing a charity iftar for injured children from the Gaza Strip and their families receiving treatment in the Kingdom's hospitals through a royal grant.
