Amman: His Majesty King Abdullah II held productive discussions with Albania President Bajram Begaj at Al Husseiniya Palace, focusing on enhancing cooperation and bilateral relations between Jordan and Albania. The meeting, which took place on Sunday, was attended by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah and Albania's First Lady Armanda Begaj, highlighting the significance of the visit.
According to Jordan News Agency, His Majesty emphasized the importance of this visit as an opportunity to bolster the relationship between the two nations. He noted that the previous year witnessed a series of exchanges and coordination efforts, culminating in Aqaba Process meetings centered on interfaith dialogue. The King conveyed his best wishes to the Albanian people during the holy month of Ramadan, underscoring shared values and cooperative efforts toward promoting harmony and dialogue.
During discussions on regional issues, King Abdullah praised Albania's support for initiatives aimed at restoring stability, achieving peace, and realizing a two-state solution. His Royal Highness Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, His Majesty's chief adviser for religious and cultural affairs, was also present, and both leaders affirmed the importance of dialogue and peaceful solutions for regional stability and conflict resolution.
The King stressed the critical need to respect state sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. President Begaj, in turn, expressed his belief that the visit would enhance partnerships in investment, security, tourism, and development, citing the potential for increased economic interaction.
President Begaj's visit included tours of religious and tourism sites in Jordan, and he highlighted the importance of strengthening ties between the two peoples, suggesting the establishment of a direct flight route between Jordan and Albania to encourage mutual visits.
The talks also covered broader regional issues, with King Abdullah calling for intensified international efforts to halt illegal actions aimed at consolidating settlements and imposing Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank. He warned against the growing violations of Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, urging all parties to honor the agreement to end the war on Gaza and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid throughout the Strip.
The discussions were attended by prominent officials including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, Health Minister and Escort of Honour Ibrahim Bdour, Jordan's non-resident Ambassador to Albania Zuheir Nsour, and Albania's Ambassador to Jordan Sami Shiba.
