Jordan and Pakistan Commit to Strengthening Trade and Economic Ties

Islamabad: The Jordan-Pakistan Joint Committee convened its 10th session in Islamabad, Pakistan, focusing on strengthening economic and trade cooperation between the two nations. The discussions aimed at exploring available opportunities in both countries to enhance bilateral relations.

According to Jordan News Agency, the session was chaired by Jordan's Minister of Industry and Trade, Yarub Qudah, alongside Pakistan's Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan. The committee's agenda included signing a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in information and communications technology initiatives, reflecting both countries' commitment to expanding their economic and trade partnership.

Minister Qudah emphasized the importance of organizing exhibitions and stimulating the private sector to diversify Jordanian exports to Pakistan. He highlighted Jordan's dedication to developing economic cooperation with Pakistan across various sectors, particularly in light of current regional and global challenges.

Qudah proposed hosting the 11th session of the Joint Committee in Amman next year, with the date to be determined through diplomatic channels. Meanwhile, Minister Khan acknowledged the significance of the committee's meetings in enhancing economic cooperation and increasing trade volume, describing the bilateral relations as "distinguished."

Khan reiterated Pakistan's readiness to elevate cooperation with Jordan in areas such as trade, industry, investment, energy, natural resources, health, digital economy, agriculture, transport, and tourism. Both sides recognized the importance of supporting private sector collaboration and agreed to activate the Jordan-Pakistan Business Council to further strengthen commercial ties.

During the session, Ministry Secretary-General Dana Zoubi and Pakistani trade and economy officials presented key points of agreement. The agreements included forming a working group to identify mutual economic interests and paving the way for a business forum to engage the private sectors of both countries.
