Irbid: Minister of Social Development Wafaa Bani Mustafa emphasized that volunteering is a fundamental pillar of sustainable development, playing a crucial role in supporting government efforts to achieve social solidarity, enhance community participation, and build effective partnerships with civil society institutions. She made these remarks during a celebration organized by Al Farouq Society for Orphan's Care, which won first place in the Al Hussein bin Abdullah II Award for Voluntary Service for its "Orphan Sponsorship" initiative.
According to Jordan News Agency, Bani Mustafa expressed pride in this achievement, highlighting it as a testament to a long history of organized institutional voluntary work spanning 35 years. She noted that Al Farouq Society embodies a vision that values volunteering and its developmental impact, evolving from traditional care to sustainable development work that empowers target groups and creates a tangible impact in society.
Bani Mustafa praised the society's developmental role, which extends beyond relief and care activities, emphasizing the importance of planning in voluntary work and shifting from individual efforts to institutional work founded on governance and transparency. She also highlighted the significance of the Al Hussein bin Abdullah II Award for Voluntary Service in promoting a culture of cooperation and volunteer initiatives, reflecting the vision of Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II in supporting volunteering and youth empowerment.
The Minister underscored the Ministry of Social Development's belief in organized voluntary service based on partnership and governance. She mentioned an ongoing project to classify associations, aiming to evaluate them objectively, support active associations, and encourage emerging ones. This year will see the classification of the first group of societies, linked to incentives to foster positive competition and improve performance efficiency.
President of the Al Farouq Society for Orphan's Care, Hussein Al-Hawari, spoke of the society's progression into a charitable institution with tangible impact and a model of sustainability and governance. He noted that receiving the Silver Jubilee Medal from King Abdullah II was a milestone that reinforced the value of civic and institutional work in serving society.
The ceremony also featured a short video showcasing the society's achievements, a national artistic segment by students, and the honoring of various supporting entities.
