Petra Authority and Azerbaijani Ambassador Explore Enhanced Tourism Cooperation

Petra: Chief Commissioner of Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) Fares Braizat on Wednesday discussed with Azerbaijani Ambassador to Jordan, Shahin Abdullayev, ways to strengthen joint cooperation and expand partnership prospects in tourist and cultural fields. Talking at the meeting, Braizat called for enhancing international cooperation in cultural tourism, highlighting Petra's status as one of the world's "key tourism and heritage" sites and its exceptional human and historical value, which requires collective efforts to preserve it for future generations.

According to Jordan News Agency, Braizat outlined PDTRA's efforts to develop tourist infrastructure, improve service quality for visitors, and implement protection and site-management programs in line with international best practices and standards, enhancing visitor experience and ensuring site sustainability. For his part, Abdullayev praised Petra's "unique" cultural and human heritage and the "advanced" management of the archaeological site, expressing his country's interest in strengthening cooperation with Jordan in tourism and cultural sectors and exploring opportunities for joint collaboration in the coming period.

Touring Petra's archaeological site, the diplomat viewed its key landmarks, and was briefed on the city's history, cultural significance, and ongoing preservation and management efforts.
