Petra: Director of Petra District Health Directorate Hatem Habashneh announced that 295 individuals benefited from smoking cessation clinics in the southern district from their inception at the beginning of 2025 through the end of the year.
According to Jordan News Agency, Habashneh highlighted an increased demand for the clinics' services, especially during the latter half of 2025. He emphasized the significance of smoking cessation clinics as an integral part of the Ministry of Health's tobacco-control initiatives. These clinics are crucial due to the severe health consequences of smoking, which include cardiovascular diseases, respiratory illnesses, and cancer.
In a statement to "Petra" on Tuesday, Habashneh explained that the clinics offer a comprehensive package of services. These include medical and psychological counseling, personalized treatment plans, regular follow-up, and supportive therapies aligned with approved protocols to assist smokers in quitting gradually and safely.
Beneficiaries of the program reported that the ongoing follow-up and medical and psychological support were instrumental in their decision to quit smoking and maintain their commitment. They noted that the medical guidance and treatment plans provided by the clinics enabled them to overcome years of difficulty with smoking, leading to improved health and increased activity levels. This marked a significant turning point in their health behavior.
