Amman: Deputizing for Minister of Government Communication and government spokesperson Mohammad Momani, Secretary General of the ministry Zaid Nawaiseh on Monday inaugurated in Amman the "Diplomacy between Media and the Economy" conference under the title "Toward a Global Presence that Enhances Investment Opportunities." This event, organized by the Pioneer Center for Studies and Human Rights Training, saw the participation of diplomats, media professionals, and journalists from Jordan as well as Arab and foreign countries.
According to Jordan News Agency, the conference aims to boost investment opportunities in Jordan by emphasizing its safe and stable environment. It seeks to create an interactive space for diplomats, media professionals, and local, Arab, and international investors to develop future-oriented visions that support the national economy. Nawaiseh highlighted the significance of integrating media, diplomacy, and economy to enhance Jordan's international presence. He underlined the media's role in building trust and supporting the investment climate and mentioned the ministry's efforts to develop a modern government communication system that aligns with the digital transformation.
Nawaiseh also emphasized the need for consistency in government messaging and easy access to information, as well as the role of responsible media in crisis management and strengthening Arab partnerships in government communication. Rania Haddadin, Director of the Pioneer Center, spoke on the conference's importance in fortifying the relationship between media and investment, highlighting the role of media discourse in promoting Jordan's economic opportunities and creating an attractive environment for investors.
In addition, Fathi Al-Jaghbir, President of the Amman Chamber of Industry, noted the significance of the Jordanian industrial sector as a major economic pillar that warrants advanced diplomatic and media support. He pointed out that the sector contributes over 25 percent to the gross domestic product, with its impact extending to more than 44 percent due to its connections with various economic sectors. Al-Jaghbir mentioned that industry accounts for about 40.8 percent of the total national production, with an annual production capacity of approximately 18 billion dinars. He emphasized that nearly one-third of economic growth over the past decade was driven by the industrial sector, particularly evident during the coronavirus crisis when demand for national products surged.
Lebanese media figure and poet Zahi Wehbe also shared his views, expressing his pleasure in participating and extending greetings to Amman. He remarked that the Jordanian capital offers a sense of familiarity and belonging, enriched by its history, culture, and natural beauty, describing it as a city that stands like a bride on seven hills, encapsulating the region's history and civilizational depth.
