Ministry Expands Inclusive Day Centers, Announces Specialized Training Hub

Amman: Minister of Social Development Wafaa Bani Mustafa announced on Sunday that the Ministry is expanding its network of inclusive day centers and early intervention units nationwide in response to rising demand. During her visit to the Bunyat Center for Special Education, affiliated with the Young Muslim Women’s Association, Bani Mustafa revealed plans to inaugurate a specialized training center in mid-December, which will coincide with the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs meeting in Amman. This new center is intended to serve as a regional model.

According to Jordan News Agency, the minister was briefed on the comprehensive services offered by the center for people with disabilities. These services include early intervention and vocational rehabilitation units, along with a kindergarten and a school. Bani Mustafa highlighted the center’s role as a distinguished model in service provision across all age groups. She praised the humanitarian, volunteer-based institution, which operates under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sarvath El Hassan, for its pioneering excellence in programs aimed at developing beneficiaries’ academic and vocational skills.

Center Director Bahia Misk provided insights into the center’s services, noting that the facility, established in 1974, caters to the educational and vocational rehabilitation needs of individuals with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder. Currently, the center serves 217 beneficiaries. Misk added that the center empowers students to achieve self-reliance and lead meaningful social and professional lives through academic programs in reading, writing, arithmetic, science, and language communication, as well as daily life skills. Additional support services include speech therapy, occupational therapy, guidance, and behavior modification programs.
