Beijing: A Senate delegation, led by Issa Haider Murad and including members Mustafa Bazaieh and Fadel Hmoud, participated in the Arab Parliamentarians’ Dialogue in Beijing. The event took place at the National People’s Congress building, bringing together representatives from Arab legislative councils and institutions, as well as the Arab Parliament.
According to Jordan News Agency, during the opening session, Murad delivered a speech emphasizing the longstanding Jordanian-Chinese relations, which have lasted for more than half a century. He marked the completion of a decade of strategic partnership between Jordan and China as a significant milestone, highlighting it as a model of cooperation grounded in mutual respect and a shared vision for a more prosperous future.
Murad pointed out the unified stance on Arab issues, with particular emphasis on the Palestinian cause and the conflict in the Gaza Strip. He commended China for its support of the Hashemite custodianship over Jerusalem’s Islamic and Christian holy sites. Furthermore, Murad advocated for enhancing joint parliamentary cooperation through the exchange of expertise and visits, activation of joint committees, and increased academic and scholarship collaboration. He also highlighted the importance of developing health and tourism partnerships and supporting the twinning initiative between the two countries’ cities and heritage sites.
Expressing appreciation for Chinese investments in Jordan, especially in energy, industry, and services, Murad noted that Jordan offers an attractive investment environment with numerous privileges. He underscored the necessity of deepening economic cooperation and activating partnership projects under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) law.
Murad stressed the importance of enhancing the role of the Belt and Road Initiative in promoting development and stability in the region. He encouraged leveraging China’s extensive experience in infrastructure, industrial advancement, and economic growth to bolster regional progress.
On the sidelines of the symposium, the Senate delegation is scheduled to visit several major development institutions and projects across various Chinese cities, further strengthening the ties between Jordan and China.
