Amman: Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Saeb Khraisat, recently met with Ignace Lukas, Head of Economic Development at the German Embassy, Dr. Matthias Schmidt-Rosen, Director of the German Development Bank (KfW) in Amman, and Dr. Assia AlDhabbi, Senior Coordinator at KfW – Amman, to discuss ongoing and future projects.
According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting focused on the collaboration between the Ministry of Agriculture and KfW. Dr. Khraisat expressed gratitude for the German government’s support, particularly in relation to the Ministry of Agriculture. A significant portion of the dialogue centered on the “Green Jobs” project, supported by KfW, which aims to create 3,000 job opportunities through a “Cash for Work” program over four years, with a budget of £14.5 million.
Dr. Khraisat emphasized the importance of overcoming any challenges to ensure the success of the project. The German delegation praised the collaboration and underscored the importance of adhering to the project’s timeline. They also highlighted KfW’s track record in implementing successful projects with the Ministry of Agriculture.
The discussions also explored future cooperation with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, focusing on food systems. This aligns with the priorities of the Economic Modernization Vision for Jordan’s agricultural sector.
