Ministry of Public Works and UN-Habitat Discuss Collaborative Efforts

Amman: Minister of Public Works and Housing Maher Abu Al Saman met with Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) Rania Hadiya to discuss avenues for cooperation. The meeting, which took place on Monday, was also attended by the Director General of the Housing and Urban Development Corporation, Jumana Atiyat, and the Director of the UN-Habitat Amman Office, Dima Abu Diab. The discussions primarily focused on the Programme’s activities within the Kingdom, especially in the realms of sustainable urban planning and housing development.

According to Jordan News Agency, both parties reviewed their joint achievements aimed at enhancing the quality of the built environment within Jordanian cities. Abu Al Saman emphasized the significance of the partnership with UN-Habitat, highlighting its role in bolstering national efforts toward sustainable urban development. He noted the importance of improving the efficiency of housing and infrastructure projects in accordance with international best practices.

Rania Hadiya, on her part, praised the Ministry’s collaboration with UN-Habitat and reiterated the organization’s dedication to supporting the Jordanian government’s initiatives in housing, urban development, and institutional capacity building. The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing to maintain coordination and implement joint programmes and projects. These initiatives aim to improve housing and urban services while advancing sustainable development across Jordanian cities.
