Amman: The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources organized a specialized two-day training workshop focused on methods for extracting data and information from exploration and prospecting reports and building project databases. This initiative was conducted in collaboration with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).
According to Jordan News Agency, the workshop concentrated on utilizing the agency’s expertise in exploration, mining, and engineering projects. Participants were trained on methodologies for creating and structuring databases specific to the mining sector.
The training also included sessions on extracting information from decades-old archived exploration and prospecting reports housed at the Directorate of Geology and Mining. This information was then integrated into modern databases using ArcGIS Pro software.
The Royal Jordanian Geographic Center hosted the workshop, utilizing its facilities equipped with geographic information systems and remote sensing software. Staff from the center participated to support the ministry’s efforts in developing the mining sector’s information infrastructure.
