Amman: Royal Committee for Jerusalem Affairs Secretary-General Abdullah Kanaan stated Monday that the unfolding situation and rapid developments in the Middle East and the world present a challenge that requires prompt action from political leaders and international and regional organizations.
According to Jordan News Agency, Kanaan emphasized the potential difficult repercussions and dire consequences for international relations and global peace and security if the current situation is not addressed. He highlighted the anticipation surrounding the emergency Arab-Islamic summit in Qatar, which aims to produce decisions and executive outcomes facilitating collective Arab and Islamic action against threats facing the Arab nation, particularly Zionist schemes and the policies of the far-right in Israel.
Kanaan underscored Jordan’s pivotal role in defending Arab rights, notably the Palestinian people’s right to end Israeli occupation and aggression against Jerusalem and Gaza. He reiterated the call for a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, emphasizing Jordan’s diplomatic efforts under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, the historic custodian of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, to advocate for peace and justice.
Since October 7, 2023, Jordan has taken a proactive stance on both political and humanitarian fronts, supporting the people of Gaza, Jerusalem, and all of Palestine. The Kingdom has also engaged in forming a joint Arab, Islamic, and international effort to expose the ongoing genocide and injustice against Palestinians, aiming to build a broad international coalition against Israeli policies.
Kanaan noted that the Doha conference embodies a unanimous Arab and Islamic position, asserting that the current dangers and challenges necessitate a united front against the “barbaric Israeli aggression” to achieve peace and stability in the region.
