ACS Surgical Clinical Congress Opens in Amman with Over 600 Medical Experts

Amman: The 6th Jordanian Annual Surgical Clinical Congress of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) – Jordan Chapter commenced in Amman, featuring participation from more than 600 doctors and specialists. The event includes scientific sessions, case studies, and workshops emphasizing recent advancements in surgery and healthcare.

According to Jordan News Agency, the conference unites specialists from various surgical disciplines such as vascular, orthopedic and spine, colorectal, liver, breast, reconstructive, obstetrics and gynecology, and urology. The program includes joint sessions on complex medical cases, panel discussions of filmed surgeries, and live broadcasts from operating rooms. Workshops aim to train medical students and surgical residents.

Health Minister Ibrahim Budour inaugurated the event, highlighting modern surgery’s role in Jordan’s healthcare development. He emphasized the sector’s increasing reliance on scientific research, subspecialties, and advanced technologies, and pointed out the ministry’s collaborative approach with public, private, and academic health institutions.

Budour mentioned the expansion of specialized surgical services, including cardiac surgery, in public hospitals as part of a strategy to improve performance and ensure quality care across the Kingdom. He described these achievements as the start of an ongoing journey toward a more advanced health system, focusing on training and professional development.

ACS Jordan Chapter President Khaled Maaytah remarked that this year’s congress is notable for its multi-specialty sessions on challenging cases and interactive discussions aimed at generating new surgical insights.

Attendees included Jordan Medical Association President Issa Khashashneh and Royal Medical Services Director-General Sahel Hamouri. The conference, organized by the ACS Jordan Chapter, is a significant medical event in the Kingdom, serving as a platform for knowledge exchange, showcasing surgical innovations, and reinforcing Jordan’s status as a regional hub for medical expertise.
