Jordan Participates in Solar Energy Forum in Baghdad

Baghdad: A Jordanian industrial delegation participated last week in the Iraqi-Jordanian Business Forum, held in Baghdad under the theme: “Solar Energy: A Regional Partnership Towards a Sustainable Future.” In a statement issued on Saturday, Chairman of Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry, Fathi Jaghbir, stated that the event provided a platform for discussing the establishment of joint trade partnerships and complementary industries.

According to Jordan News Agency, on the forum’s sidelines, the Jordanian delegation engaged in talks with several Iraqi ministers and institutions involved in trade exchange activities. During a meeting with the Iraqi Minister of Industry and Minerals, Khaled Battal Najm, the delegation discussed issues to enhance industrial and economic cooperation. Key topics included the law protecting Iraqi products and customs tariffs, as well as developments in the work of the two countries’ joint committee.

The two sides agreed to hold a joint meeting to coordinate efforts and address issues on the economic agreement to serve common interests, particularly concerning customs duties on some Jordanian products. In another meeting, the delegation also deliberated with Iraqi Minister of Trade Dr. Atheer Ghurairi on ways to increase mutual trade exchange, remove obstacles for the flow of goods, and encourage joint investments.

Jaghbir indicated that Jordanian exports to Iraq, which amount to approximately $1 billion annually, are expected to increase amid ongoing coordination between the Jordanian government and the industrial sector. He noted that the upcoming joint discussions would contribute to overcoming administrative and logistical obstacles, thereby facilitating the expedited completion of the joint industrial zone project on the two countries’ border area.
