Eastern Military Zone Downs Drug-Laden Balloons

Amman: The Eastern Military Zone thursday foiled an attempt to smuggle narcotics carried by balloons guided with rudimentary devices. Border Guard forces tracked the balloons inside Jordanian territory, and, working with security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, brought them down with the illicit goods, referring the seized items to the competent authorities.

According to Jordan News Agency, the joint operation involved precise coordination between multiple agencies to ensure the successful interception of the drug-smuggling attempt. The use of balloons for smuggling presents a unique challenge, requiring vigilance and cooperation among the military and law enforcement agencies.

The seized narcotics have been handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation and processing. The Eastern Military Zone continues to monitor and address unconventional methods of smuggling to protect the country’s borders.
