Authorities Ban Outdoor Work During Peak Heat Hours Amid Heatwave

Amman: The Labour Ministry banned outdoor work for agricultural labourers and others exposed to direct sunlight between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. during the ongoing heatwave.

According to Jordan News Agency, Ministry Spokesperson Mohammad Zyoud announced on Sunday that the ban will take effect starting Monday and continue through Thursday, in line with the heatwave advisory issued by the Jordan Meteorological Department.

The decision is based on the labour minister’s authority under the Agricultural Workers Regulations of 2021 and the Occupational Safety, Health and Prevention of Occupational Hazards Regulations of 2023.

Zyoud said that employers are required to adjust working hours accordingly and ensure that workers are protected from direct sun exposure during the specified times.
