Al Mafraq: Today marked a milestone for the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Al Mafraq city. Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Interior, the first-ever Mafraq Entrepreneurship Day was celebrated at Al al-Bayt University.
According to European Union, the event was organised in partnership with Al al-Bayt University and the North Entrepreneurship Network. It served as a flagship initiative under the Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Economic Development and Employment (E4DE) project, which is jointly funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the European Union (EU). The project is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship (MoDEE).
The event brought together aspiring and established entrepreneurs, representatives from government and academia, entrepreneurship support organisations as well as international partners, all united by a shared commitment to foster local innovation and inclusive economic growth.
The day featured the launch of the Mafraq Award for Creativity and Entrepreneurship, recognising innovative local ventures. A networking session was held to connect entrepreneurs with support organisations, private sector stakeholders, and policy-makers. Participants also had the opportunity to engage in two panel discussions focusing on the opportunities and challenges facing entrepreneurs in Mafraq. Additionally, the event included an exhibition showcasing start-ups, community initiatives, and social enterprises, as well as a local bazaar celebrating home-based and productive businesses.
High-level addresses were given by representatives from the Ministry of Interior, the German Embassy, and Al al-Bayt University, each reaffirming their commitment to supporting inclusive and sustainable development in Jordan’s northern governorates.
The Entrepreneurship Day was more than a celebration. It signaled what is possible when local talent meets strong partnerships.
