Amman: President of the University of Jordan, Nathir Obeidat, received a delegation from Turkey’s Izmir Katip Celebi University on Wednesday, headed by University Rector Saffet Kose and Vice Rector Muhsin Akbas, as part of a visit aimed at strengthening academic cooperation and broadening the scope of partnership between the two institutions.
According to Jordan News Agency, during the meeting, both sides discussed potential collaboration in scientific research, student and faculty exchange, and the development of joint academic programs, paving the way for the signing of a formal memorandum of understanding.
Obeidat stressed the importance of the visit, describing it as an opportunity for constructive dialogue and underlining the University of Jordan’s commitment to establishing meaningful international partnerships that promote impactful research and link academia with industry and technology.
He provided the visiting delegation with a brief overview of the university’s history and stature as the “mother of all Jordanian universities,” highlighting its key academic and research achievements. Obeidat noted that the university is currently undertaking a comprehensive review of all its programs to align them with technological advancements and labor market demands, alongside infrastructure modernization efforts.
For his part, Kose affirmed Izmir Katip Celebi University’s readiness to deepen mutual cooperation. He presented an overview of the university, established in 2010 as a modern public institution in the city of Izmir, comprising 14 faculties. He explained that the university’s strategic plans focus on enhancing the quality and effectiveness of education, achieving academic excellence, and providing special support to international students. The university enjoys a strong reputation among its international community and offers programs in both Turkish and English.
