Israeli Forces Attack Historical Landmark Near Al-Aqsa Mosque

Gaza: The Israeli occupation authorities attacked a historical landmark adjacent to the walls of Al-Aqsa Mosque, specifically targeting Housh Al-Shihabi near Bab Al-Hadid. This site is regarded as a significant architectural and religious landmark in the Old City of Jerusalem.

According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the Jerusalem Governorate condemned the attack in a statement released on Tuesday. The statement emphasized that the attempts to expand the courtyard entrance and convert it into a Jewish prayer space, supported by the occupation municipality, constitute a violation of international law. The Governorate described this as a new crime added to the record of occupation activities in the Holy City.

The statement further highlighted that such attacks are part of a larger Judaization project targeting the Holy Basin and Islamic Waqf buildings surrounding Al-Aqsa Mosque. This initiative aligns with the Greater Jerusalem plan, which the occupation government aims to impose. The Governorate views this
as a direct affront to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan’s role and custodianship in Jerusalem, and an attempt to establish a new reality in the Old City.

The Jerusalem Governorate expressed solidarity with the Shihabi family, affirming their right to protect their historical property. It called on the international community, particularly UNESCO, and Arab and Islamic countries to intervene and halt the violations perpetrated by the occupation authorities.
