Karak: Local Administration Ministry officials toured a flood-stricken village in the Karak Governorate on Monday to assess damage after massive downpours across the southern region yesterday. The ministry’s secretary-general Wajdi Dalaeen highlighted the severe impact of the rainfall during his visit to Al-Iraq village.
According to Jordan News Agency, Dalaeen stated that the rainfall far exceeded the capacity of local valleys and culverts, leading to blockages and subsequent flash floods. This natural phenomenon caused considerable damage to several main road sections and resulted in homes being flooded, although the damages were reported to be purely material.
A comprehensive report detailing the damage and losses, as well as the urgent needs of the local population, will be submitted to Minister of Local Administration Walid Al-Masri. This report aims to facilitate the rehabilitation of the affected areas and ensure that necessary resources are allocated promptly.
Dalaeen assured that emergency response teams and machinery from Mu’tah and Mazar municipalities, the Karak Governorate, and the Ministry of Public Works are actively engaged in repairing the damage and addressing the needs of the local residents.
