Abu Hassan Advocates for Enhanced Economic Ties with Algeria

Amman: Chairman of the Lower House Investment and Economy Committee, Khaled Abu Hassan, has emphasized the importance of converting political agreements with Algeria into practical projects that benefit both nations’ economies. Abu Hassan’s remarks came during a meeting with Mohamed Hanouni, Chairman of the Industry Committee of the Algerian National People’s Assembly, along with Fathi Jaghbir, Head of Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry, and other officials.

According to Jordan News Agency, Abu Hassan highlighted the meeting as a significant step toward bolstering Jordanian-Algerian economic relations. He stressed the need to activate bilateral agreements and explore new avenues for cooperation in the fields of industry, trade, and investment.

During the meeting, Jaghbir expressed satisfaction with the discussions, noting that the current trade volume between Jordan and Algeria does not accurately reflect the depth of their relationship or the available potential. He called for intensified joint efforts to tap into these opportunities. The discussions also focused on exchanging business visits and extending an official invitation to the Algerian side to visit Jordan. Plans to hold a joint economic conference involving both countries’ chambers of industry, parliaments, and governments were also considered.

Jaghbir further stated that the Jordanian Chamber, in collaboration with the House investment committee, will prepare a working paper detailing economic cooperation priorities to be presented to the government. He added that the forthcoming phase would witness a shift from mere understandings to tangible projects that serve the common interests of both nations.
